Live At The Old Waldorf

Among the greatest bands to emerge from New York's CBGB club in the late 1970s, Television was also among the most atypical, favoring twin guitar jammers over blitzkrieg boppers. LIVE AT THE OLD WALDORF 1978 was originally a radio broadcast made when the quartet was in San Francisco supporting their final pre-reunion album, ADVENTURE. Along with a superb cover of “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction,” these eight originals receive looser takes than those on Television's two studio sets, but there's still plenty of dueling guitar work from Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, particularly on 10+ minute versions of “Marquee Moon.” and early single “Little Johnny Jewel.” Lloyd celebrates a birthday today, and in his honor, we'll revisit LIVE AT THE OLD WALDORF 1978.
