Aquarium Drunkard Presents: October Jukebox
Aquarium Drunkard lands in New York City this week for our annual CMJ party at the Mercury Lounge. This year's lineup kicks off with New Zealand newcomer Courtney Barnett and concludes with White Denim, whose new Jeff Tweedy produced LP, Corsicana Lemonade, drops this week, worldwide. Between the two are Zig Zags (representing Los Angeles), Jacco Gardner, Jonathan Rado, Calvin Love and Cotton Jones.
The sounds between the bands will be provided by the NYC/LA dj and sound collage collective, Mondo Boys (of which I'm 1/4 of). MB Mike Schanzlin guested on our SIRIUS XM radio show this past week previewing some tracks. This week's spotify playlist gathers up some highlights from the set, ranging from the late sixties Tennessee garage rock of the Nashville Teens to the vintage soul of Syl Johnson, Brenton Wood and Clarence Carter. Bridging the two are The Equals. Dig in.
