Doing a 180: David Bowie, changesonebowie

Rhino has made it a point to reissue classic albums on 180-gram vinyl on a regular basis. This is the latest to get that treatment. You're welcome.

It’s not exactly a secret that we do a lot of reissuing around these parts, but sometimes the calendar doesn’t cooperate when it comes to wanting to reintroduce something to the market on the exact day that it was released in the first place. This time, however, the stars were perfectly aligned – which seems perfectly apropos – and we’re able to bring you the new 180-gram vinyl reissue of David Bowie’s changesonebowie on the 40th anniversary of its original release. Hopefully you think this is as cool as we do, because we think it’s pretty darned cool indeed.

You don’t need us to tell you how invaluable a best-of collection changesonebowie is, so we won’t waste the time or energy doing so, but for the kiddies out there, we’ll just make note of the fact that this was Bowie’s first widely-distributed greatest-hits set, and it’s gone on to be viewed as one of the definitive must-own greatest-hits sets in music history, at least in the single-disc division. Beyond that, we’ll just tell you what you’ve already suspected: it sounds fantastic, and no self-respecting Bowie-phile will feel like his or her collection is complete until they own a copy.
