Doing a 180: Electronic - Electronic

Electronic, Electronic: The term “supergroup” gets thrown around a lot in the world of music, but what other term would be apropos for the teaming of Bernard Sumner of New Order, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, and Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys fame? Yep, that’s what we thought, too, so “supergroup” it is, then! Best known for its first single, “Getting Away With It,” Electronic’s self-titled album also featured singles like “Get the Message,” “Tighten Up,” and “Feel Every Beat,” putting both Sumner and Tennant’s voices front and center on the airwaves for a great deal of 1991. Neither of the group’s follow-up albums made quite as much of a commercial impact, but in truth, Electronic could’ve simply coasted on the awesomeness of “Getting Away with It” forever and called it a day after that one song. Everything else is good, too, but it’s just gravy after that piece of pop perfection.
