Tina Turner had certainly paid her dues when she hit the road in support of her sixth solo album in 1987; going back to her chitlin' circuit days with the Ike Turner Revue, she had been thrilling audiences for more than a generation. The year-long BREAK EVERY RULE world tour would become one of the most successful ever for a female artist, breaking box-office records in 13 countries. One of them was Brazil, where she treated 180,000 people at Rio de Janiero's Maracana Stadium to a hit-packed set spanning decades. From 1960s favorites “Proud Mary” and “Nutbush City Limits” to her electrifying turn in The Who's Tommy (“Acid Queen”) to solo breakthrough singles “What's Love Got to Do With It” and “Private Dancer” to her Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome anthem, Tina Turner touched upon every facet of her career with spirit and style.
