THe Monkees - Christmas Party

If you thought the chances of another new Monkees album were starting to grow even slimmer than they were before the announcement of 2016’s GOOD TIMES! LP, well, admittedly, that would’ve been a fairly reasonable presumption. Thankfully, however, it turns out that you were wrong, wrong, wrong!

Look out, Monkees fans, because here’s what’s coming tomorrow: CHRISTMAS PARTY, the first-ever holiday album by the band, featuring new vocals by Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, along with two vintage recordings from Davy Jones.

Producer Adam Schlesinger, who twiddled the knobs for the aforementioned GOOD TIMES! Album, returned to the studio to produce this new LP, which contains 13 tracks, including compositions by Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Andy Partridge (XTC), and Peter Buck (R.E.M.) and Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5), along with covers of such songs as "Wonderful Christmastime,” “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day,” and Big Star’s “Jesus Christ.” And if you’ve ever wondered what it’d sound like if Nez sang “The Christmas Song,” you’ll find out soon!

Here’s the full track listing:

1. "Unwrap You At Christmas"

2. "What Would Santa Do"

3. "Mele Kalikimaka"

4. "House Of Broken Gingerbread"

5. "The Christmas Song"

6. "Christmas Party"

7. "Jesus Christ"

8. "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day"

9. "Silver Bells"

10. "Wonderful Christmastime"

11. "Snowfall"

12. "Angels We Have Heard On High"

13. "Merry Christmas, Baby"

Are you already wondering if this album might be so good that it’ll get you to play a Christmas album all year round? Well, if you’re a Monkees fan, then we’re going to say that, yes, it probably is. But you’ll know for sure tomorrow!
